Glaciology and Hydrogeology
Glacial Hydrometeorology, Hydrometeorological Hazards, Glacial Geomorphology
Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Geology
Dedicated to glaciological research for over two decades, I began my career as a Project Officer in the Gangotri Glacier Project at the National Institute of Hydrology. Currently, at the Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology (WIHG), I specialize in hydrological and meteorological studies of glacierized river basins. I have led multiple field expeditions across Himalayan glaciers and explored high-altitude regions of the Karakoram, conducting research on glacier monitoring, snow cover dynamics, and sediment transport. My work focuses on hazard assessment, including lake outburst floods and ice-rock avalanches, integrating field observations with remote sensing, seismic data, and runoff modeling. I have also installed critical monitoring infrastructure (AWS, radar-based AWLRs) and contributed to climate risk assessments, supporting sustainable water management and disaster resilience in high-altitude environments.
