Objectives

  • To serve as the National Center of Geosciences for sustainable development of Himalaya and and adjoining regions.

  • To address the topical issues and undertake and pursue cutting edge research in Geosciences.

  • To develop state-of-art laboratories and network of geoscientific observatories for serving as a nodal agency for high precision field and experimental observations.

  • To foster a tradition of scholarship, dissemination and cultivation of knowledge, and promote capacity building.

  • To develop National and International collaboration with research laboratories and Universities/Institutes for scientific exchange and resource generation as per existing Government of India norms.

  • To provide expert and/or consultancy services to meet the societal requirements.

  • To take up other such activities that may be necessary, incidental or conducive in attaining the objectives or targets set by WIHG.
